It depends on your load profile, location, and available space. Many mine sites run hybrid configurations — solar and battery cover the base load during daylight hours, with a hybrid generator on standby for peak periods or overnight. HPA will conduct a free load assessment to determine the right mix.
Small to medium solar arrays (up to 100kW) can typically be commissioned within 3–5 days of delivery. Larger systems may take 1–2 weeks depending on site conditions and cabling requirements. HPA handles the full deployment.
In most cases, temporary renewable installations on private mine sites do not require planning approval, but electrical connection work must be carried out by a licensed electrician. HPA can manage all commissioning and compliance requirements.
Solar output reduces in low-light conditions. This is why HPA recommends hybrid solar-generator systems — the generator automatically picks up the load when solar generation drops below site demand, ensuring uninterrupted power at all times.
